Berner-Garde Donation

We lost our beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Pico, to Histiocytic Sarcoma on Sept 20th 2023.

Many of you knew him from Twitch streams, social media posts, photos and stories I shared on discord, and of course, our logo. He was our mascot, and an integral support for me as I started this business and navigated the last 6.5 challenging years. He was a beautiful loving goofball and a cartoon of a dog. I miss him dearly. 

Approximately 1 in 5 Berners is affected by Histiocytic Sarcoma

Histiocytic Sarcoma is a very aggressive canine cancer that is rare in the overall dog population, but incredibly common in Bernese Mountain dogs. Diagnosis can be tricky as symptoms are generally unspecific. Survival times are very low because it is often inoperable and spreads quickly.

Berner-Garde is an organization that maintains a health database for Bernese Mountain Dogs and supports research on health issues that affect them and cut their lives short. In addition to maintaining this detailed database, they also partner with Michigan State University to develop and maintain a tumor and blood sample repository to facilitate research. Much of the research they support is directly related to preventing, diagnosing, and treating Histiocytic Sarcoma.
